Sky+ Review
Sky+ is the interactive digital TV service from Sky which allows you to pause and record and rewind TV broadcasts as they happen and rewind footage for instant replay. Plan ahead by setting timers with the 7-day on screen TV guide. Simply choose what you want to watch and press the record button on your remote control. You can even set up recordings using your mobile and via a broadband connection for extra convenience.
Though the Sky+ box is no longer available to new customers, you can still access the Sky+ service through the advanced Sky+HD box. The advanced Sky+HD set top box provides all the benefits of Sky+ but also provides access to a range of high definition (HD) content. You can record up to two programmes simultaneously whilst watching programmes you've already recorded. Thanks to series link recording, you can set up your Sky+ box to record every episode of a selected series, meaning you don't have to press record for each episode every week. The Sky+HD box also features an optional socket for 5.1 Surround Sound for home cinema systems which can support this.
Pause, Record and Rewind up to 80 hours of digital TV (standard definition only)
Record up to two programmes at once
Record an entire series at the touch of a button with Series Link
Why can't I get a Sky+ box anymore?
Sky has discontinued the sale of the standard definition Sky+ box as of 28/01/10. This does not affect existing customers. If you already have a Sky TV subscription package with Sky+ you'll still be able to receive channels as normal - the only difference is that new customers won't be able to choose the Sky+ box at sign up.
How can I pause, record and rewind TV without a Sky+ box?
The Sky+HD box features the exact same pause, record and rewind functionality as the Sky+ box. To all intents and purposes the two set top boxes are the same thing, except that the Sky+HD box allows you to sign up for additional channels in HD for an extra £10.25 on top of your existing Sky TV subscription.
What about the Standard Sky Box?
Again, customers with the Standard Sky Box will still be able to receive the channels they get through their Sky TV subscription as normal. But from now onwards, the standard Sky box will only be available to subscribers if they opt for Sky Multiroom.
A Sky dish can support up to eight standard Sky boxes, or four Sky+HD boxes. You could, therefore opt for a combination of two Sky+HD boxes and four standard Sky boxes. Each box you have must be connected to the same fixed telephone line at all times. Additionally to receive your HD subscription channels in another room, you'll need another Sky+HD box and HD Pack subscription.
Sky User Reviews
I have been with Sky for around 6 years now - and I have no complaints about their service. Sky+ is an essential part of my life - without it I would be lost. It allows me to watch all of my fave TV programmes and still have a social life at the same time! The ability to skip through the adverts is also a massive thumbs up - thanks Sky!

I've been with Sky for a few years now and I have to say that I have had no problems with the service at all. It can be a pain getting through to their call centre but I've had to do it so rarely that it doesn't bother me. The range of programming on Sky is excellent, arts and culture programming on Sky Arts to The Simpsons, there is rarely nothing on. Sky + has become essential for me so I can view the football anytime I like!

i recently changed to sky and decided to go for the sky hd package! to be honest, i was a bit scepticle as i didnt think there would be that much difference, how wrong could i be? i am a massive football fan, and watching a game in HD makes more difference than i could ever imagine, the sharper quality of picture is amazing ( and my tv is not the best, so god only knows how much better it would be on a slightly newer tv) i have even started watching more nature programmes as it really makes you feel that you could actually be there with attenborough himself. an extra £10 a month?? i would have paid more than double!! plus you get a nicer box than sky+ i say get the HD package and get even more out of your tv!!!

Ive been a Sky customer for over 10 years now. I now have sky plus and find that it has changed my viewing habits dramatically! Where as before I used to flick through the hundreds of channels almost continuously. I now have a "play list" of really great TV programs to watch and the press of a button. The one downside to Sky is that I do find it hard to get through to their customer service department during busy period to upgrade to SKy movies or SKy sports etc. Generally though I give Sky+ 9/10!...love it.
